There are big, bad massage guns that you take to your toughest, most brutal workouts. And then there’s the massage gun you take everywhere: the lifestyle version that is so small you just might lose it.
That latter option is the new Hypervolt GO from Hyperice. It’s the latest on the market and one of the smallest massage guns you’ve ever seen. The Go hits stores just in time for the holidays. Along with Theragun’s Mini, it offers an alternative to traditional oversized massage guns that fit perfectly in your gym bag or suitcase. We had an exclusive chance to test the Go weeks before it hit the market, and it’s a small device that packs plenty of massage gun punch.
Massage guns have come into focus in the fitness world over the last few years. The deep vibrations along your muscles result in a variety of benefits. They help relax your muscles and nervous system, while also stimulating blood flow: two things especially valuable after a tough workout. And furthermore, if used correctly, massage guns can also prep your body for aggressive training.
Those guns are generally large and take up precious real estate in your backpack. The Hypervolt GO, however, is small enough to fit in a roomy winter coat pocket (perfect for the slopes!), yet it still packs a solid vibrational punch.
Despite its small stature, running it along forearms and chest, I still get a decent pulse, and that slightly buzzed feeling in the muscle after use. And because it’s smaller, it’s easier to grasp and shift to hard-to-reach muscles, such as my lats (where I have to twist my left arm around to treat my right side) or my traps. And the pulse is strong enough to relax my forearms, which are chronically tight from my regular training.
All that, and as massage guns go, the Hypervolt GO winds up pretty quiet too. While there’s still a hum, it’s a lower tone that won’t fully interrupt you’re Zoom call or FaceTime.
It all adds up to a good, consistent massage gun that just may be the perfect stocking stuffer for you or a loved one this holiday season.
